Griffin Hammel
Griffin Hammel is the Founder & Owner of Sword & Voice Theatrics. He earned his MFA from the University of Houston and is an Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors. He’s spent 15+ years practicing stage combat and choreographing violence for the stage, and even longer sharing his love of storytelling with others. He’s now based in North Texas.
Griffin’s favorite line in Shakespeare comes from Act 5 of Macbeth: “My voice is in my sword.” Sword & Voice Theatrics was born out of a passion to engage in the safe telling of violent stories, and the belief that everyone possesses the power to tell such tales.

“Griffin is fantastic to work with! He has a very keen sense of understanding the moment in the script and how to bring it to life through action and movement. He makes actors feel and stage combat sequences clear and easy to learn. He brings a ton of creative ideas to elevate your show, and is my number one go-to for anything stage combat.”
Marc Weaver
Director of Rodriguez Middle School
“Sword and Voice was an amazing resource for my students, and me! Griffin gave my students the confidence and tools to pull off some amazing fight choreography. As a director, I feel comfortable helping the students continue working on their scenes after watching him coach. He always puts safety first and was an incredible coach throughout the process. The students communicate well, work safely, and take ownership of the choreography. We absolutely loved working with Sword and Voice and would jump at the chance to work with Griffin again!”
Brittany Mejia
Director of Central High School
“I had the fortunate experience of collaborating with Griffin on a production of JULIUS CAESAR. We were working within a very limited time frame, but the violence and fight scenes he choreographed were nothing less than brilliant! I hope our paths cross again and we have the opportunity to work together on another project. I’m a fan of Griffin Hammel!”
